  1. I want to make a Dresden plate table runner, 28" across with a 4-5 center. How long do the blades have to be? I have a Fons & Porter acrylic wedge.

    1. Marilyn, you are set to "no reply" so I hope you get this since I couldn't email you. I don't remember the length of my blades (I think they were 13" from the tip of the tie), but a simple calculation would be to subtract your hole diameter from your finished dresden diameter then divide that number by 2. 28-5 = 23 (24 if you use 4"hole). half of that is 11.5"(12"). Remember to add seam allowances. Draw it out on paper or cut paper with your dimensions just to be sure. Hope this helps.

  2. I am in the process of making a necktie table cover using my deceased husband's ties. I am to the place where I need to attach the center circle but I have too much waffling at the center. What have I done wrong and is there ay way to fix it. Do I need to take it all apart and start from scratch? Any suggestions will be very appreciated and thank you.

  3. Unknown, you are set to "no reply", so I hope you get this. It sounds like your quarters were not square when you stitched them together. Take apart only the quarters and square them up. Technically they are right angles but you get the idea. Then stitch them back together. I hope this helps.

  4. I did as you said and took apart the quarters. Three of them were pretty square and one not so good. So how do I go about squaring up the one quarter that is not very square. Again thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. I do really appreciate this. Linda

  5. Linda, lay it on your cutting mat so it is a right angle. If the one you have is really off, you may need to take those apart and check them again with your dresden ruler. Or it may be that you have the seam allowance wrong. If it only slightly off, just trim it to form your right angle. You just need to be sure it the same size as the others. Hope this helps.
